Now that you know about ISO, aperture, and shutter speed, let’s see how they work together! Imagine these settings as the three points of an exposure triangle. Changing one setting affects the others, and finding the right balance creates a properly exposed image.

Scenario: You’re photographing a landscape at sunset. The natural light is fading, so you might:

  • Increase ISO: To make the camera more sensitive to the lower light.
  • Open the aperture (lower f-number): To let in more light and blur the background, potentially highlighting a specific area of the landscape.
  • Adjust shutter speed: Depending on the desired effect. A slower shutter speed might be used to create a sense of movement in the clouds, while a faster shutter speed might be used to freeze the foreground elements like trees.

By experimenting with the exposure triangle, you’ll unlock the potential to capture stunning photos in a variety of lighting conditions.
Remember, photography is a journey of exploration! Keep practicing, keep learning, and have fun with the process!
